Good Days and Bad Days...

It's funny how we can't plan on which one we get, but as our good friend, Karen wrote oh so long ago, 'rainy days and Mondays' can get you down. This is specially true if your work-clock peaks on the weekends.

So I don't need to spell out how Monday was a slow day. We got our bible reading done, then we went for another story. Bible read-alouds are true treasures, because scripture, no matter how difficult (or oversimplified) the reading level, hits straight to the heart of everyone within earshot.

I have found that my daughter's bible brings me to tears more often than my own adult version does. This is why we decided to read through it a second time. It's called the Egermeier's Bible Story Book, a beautifully written storybook version of the bible. It is the same version I read to my older son a decade ago, and one I plan to read to future grandkids.

I digress. So this was Monday... bible, then the ubiquitous handwriting exercises. Handwriting, every little lady's arsenal of "good breeding," or is it? I'll continue this discussion another day.

Back from a loooong break

This is not the beginning of a new school year... We are actually teetering back and forth among (at least) three school calendars. Being Filipino, the "body clock" would say that we are beginning a new school year, as the Philippines begins classes in June. Living in Malaysia the past 5 years has acclimatized us to their school calendar, which runs from January to November. This means, I should be in the middle of our curriculum by now. But there is always a third option, the US calendar, which I use as a scape goat whenever I find that I'm behind schedule. Well, I do order my materials from the US whenever the budget allows...

So, without further a-juju, I'm hoping I can keep this up.
